GANNI’S SS25: “The Craft” Creates Magic in Paris

Updated: 27 September 2024

In a captivating and much-anticipated debut at Paris Fashion Week that we recapped on Instagram, Ganni’s creative director Ditte Reffstrup unveiled the SS25 collection titled “The Craft.” Blending a more tailored aesthetic with the brand’s signature Scandi style, Reffstrup delivered a collection that both respects Ganni’s youthful roots and embraces sophistication. This fresh approach marks an evolution for the brand, as it seeks to find balance between its playful origins and the polished sartorial language of Paris.

“For some time, we’ve been thinking of what’s next for Ganni,” creative director Ditte Reffstrup told Vogue, a day before the show. “We’re becoming more and more of a global brand – it felt like we needed a change. Paris is maybe every designer’s biggest dream; it’s still the mother of fashion. It makes sense.” Under the leadership of new CEO Laura du Rusquec, former CEO at Balenciaga, the brand believes the move will help it reach new audiences going global.

“We wanted to channel the GANNI woman’s intuitive confidence and dynamic energy—someone who is tuned in. This collection is about courage, empowerment, and connection, pushing our boundaries across both design and innovation. My heart beats the most for responsible fabrications, and our Fabrics of the Future program feels like magic.” — Ditte Reffstrup, Creative Director, GANNI.

Tailored Elegance Meets Playful Spirit

“The Craft” collection showcased a refined interpretation of Ganni’s iconic designs, introducing familiar elements in innovative ways. The ruffled Peter Pan collar, a hallmark of past collections, made a striking return. This time, it adorned a sleek black bomber jacket and appeared as a delicate neckerchief in several outfits, cleverly modernizing a beloved feature while enhancing the collection's tailored focus.

Key pieces included a stylish take on a structured organza dress refined with ruffled trims, and leopard print transformed into a chic pencil skirt paired with a zip-up jacket. This fresh iteration highlighted the brand's ability to reinvent classics while maintaining its vibrant, effervescent character. A bubble skirt minidress, matched with statement boots, captured the essence of youthful exuberance that Ganni is known for.

The collection also explored themes of modern sisterhood and holistic living, drawing inspiration from witchcraft—a narrative enhanced by the show’s set design, which featured a central smoking cauldron. This motif symbolized a connection to nature and the empowerment of women, adding depth to the collection’s visual and thematic presentation.

Designer Nicklass Skovgaard, who showed his collection at Copenhagen Fashion Week SS25, was also a design consultant on 5 dresses from the collection, which is clearly expressed in the sophisticated silhouettes and expert avant-garde tailoring with corseted waistlines and voluminous bubble skirting on the Ganni Gowns.

Model @florence.uk wore a heavyweight twill denim set featuring cinched blazer with signature eyelet detailing and coordinating bermuda shorts.

Styled with sneakers, crafted from Simplifyber Fybron™, a trailblazing bio-fibre which can be molded to form the textured upper of a shoe.

Central to Reffstrup’s vision was a commitment to sustainability, with the collection heavily featuring materials from Ganni’s “Fabrics of the Future” including Celium, a leather alternative crafted from mango and pineapple waste, showcased in a striking sky-colored short suit. Ganni is a B Corp Certified brand with a commitment to eco-friendly practices underscores the brand’s mission to lead the sustainability conversation within the fashion industry.

The show also unveiled their latest iteration of the the Bou bag in XXL made with @oleatex as well—designed to be the next must-have from the SS25 collection.

Craftsmanship and Design Details

The collection is filled with recognizable classics with a pop of blue, green, red and pink and as something new laces on both bags and boots. A standout aspect of the collection was the thoughtful detailing in design elements. A smart denim set featured a full skirt in New Look proportions, with a jacket that subtly mimicked corsetry, echoing a sense of refined femininity. Accessories, including pointy slingbacks and lace-up boots, complemented the outfits while maintaining the playful spirit that Ganni embodies.

Ganni’s SS25 show not only showcased a collection that celebrates individuality and innovation but also firmly positioned the brand within the evolving landscape of sustainable fashion. By intertwining tailored elegance with whimsical design elements and a commitment to eco-friendly practices, Ditte Reffstrup has successfully cast a spell over the fashion world, leaving audiences eager to embrace the modern #GanniGirl’s enchanting journey into the future.
