ROTATE Birger Christensen, designed by Jeanette Madsen and her creative partner Thora Valdimars, scored the coveted slot to close-out Copenhagen Fashion Week with their debut Spring/Summer 2025 collection. The collection was presented outside at the Garden of the Royal Library—an ode to “summertime escapism”, with soft silhouettes and delicate materials that evoked the Art Deco era of the 1920’s. “We wanted to create the ultimate mood of summer: the warmth, lightness, freedom, and romance of the season,” co-creative director Jeanette Madsen tells ELLE. Her partner, Thora Valdimars, adds: “We pulled inspiration from many places that reminded us of this mood, and what it formed was a movie like sequence—a visual so strong it felt almost like a real physical emotion.”

Celebrating summertime with delicate floral prints and pastel hues, we saw brand ambassador Pamela Anderson on the front row and German model Toni Garn on the catwalk. And in an exciting partnership with jewelry brand Pandora, the looks were accessorized with light, sculptural jewelry from chunky gold bracelets, stacked gold bangles and simple hoop earrings from the label's Essence collection. "Thora and I have worked with Pandora for a really long time as influencers," Jeanette Madsen remarked, so the collaboration just made sense.

ELLE added that “the collaboration between Rotate and Pandora went a step further, as Rotate also teamed up with artist Grete Henriette to create unique, bespoke pieces made from existing styles in the jewelry manufacturer’s archive. Notably, the finale dress was an explosion of sparkles, with a skirt made out of 2,000 Pandora tennis bracelets.Henriette and her team worked on the dress for over two weeks straight, connecting the bracelets together and hand-stitching them onto the dress’ bodysuit.”

The looks were majorly on trend—featuring bubble-hem skirts, hot pants, floor-length fringe, capris, a denim gown, and a soft color palette of butter yellow, magenta, and ivory to add a touch of femininity. The models faces were elegantly made-up by famed British make-up artist Charlotte Tilbury.

The label’s debut marked another milestone for the brand as days earlier, Rotate opened its first flagship store in Denmark’s capital, doors down from Scandi mainstays like Ganni and By Malene Birger.

Although it seems like they’re only just beginning, the Danish brand’s party is far from ending as it just celebrated its fifth anniversary last year. It’s made a name for itself with its party-ready clothes and their influencer cofounder designers. With a growing a massive social media presence and a strong position at retailers like Net-A-Porter and Mytheresa, Rotate has collaborated with H&M and had a very profitable 2023. When Madsen and cofounder Thora Valdimars started Rotate in 2018, they didn't anticipate such rapid success. “We started out with seven dresses,” Madsen says. “It has evolved like we never imagined.”
